A True Bulgarian Artist

Stavri’s art is a combination of history, mythology, religion, folk-art and literary concepts. His art includes iconography, religious and biblical themes, symbolic visions of animals and biomorphism, exaggerated male and female forms; ritualistic and creationist premises, archetypal imagery, godlike and demon like creatures. Kalinov’s art is incapable of subtlety and is anything but light.

Stavri refers to himself as an extraterrestrial, planted on Earth because of his unconventional and unique talents. In his interviews one can only admire his philosophies about life, politics, religion and God. And his art represents all his idiosyncrasies. He interprets Bulgarian words etymologically and wallows in a constellation of his own semantics. The reasoning behind his logic is quite original and strikes through everyone on the Balkans acquainted with the Cyrillic language.

One unique technique of his artworks is with cast glass. Cast in a kiln, many of them are made with a glowing luminosity depending on the depicted subject.
